Agatha Christie’s Evil Under the Sun gets an early 80′s Dynasty-esque treatment. My favorite set-up line from the film came from the character, Sir Horace Blatt: ”Daphne Castle’s place – where the nobs and nancys come to squawk at each other.” Is Roddy McDowall’s character one of the nancys? You’d better believe he is. This is high camp and a wonderful adaptation of Christie’s novel. Starring powerhouses Peter Ustinov, Maggie Smith, Diana Rigg, and Roddy McDowall – shoulder pads and beach lounge wear never looked as good as it does in 1981 Mallorca. Gorgeous locations shots, lots of catty remarks, and major eye candy from Nicholas Clay. What’s not to love about this comfort food fest? I’m rating Evil Under the Sun a 4 out of 5.
Hat tip to my friend Grace for loaning me her copy of this classic 80′s film!

It is Roddy McDowall, not McDowell
